The Everyday Blogger Day Out & Travel Essentials

Wednesday 11 February 2015

Hey guys, welcome back to my blog and in today's post I am going to run down some of the essentials every blogger should have with them whether they're on a day out with friends or preparing to travel the world.

So without further or do here are my Travel and Day Out essentials for the blogger next door.

Headphones
Headphones are a necessity whether you're travelling the world or getting a bus to your local high street and this is why I recommend this vital gadget for you to have with you this year.

There are a ton of headphones on the market but which ones perfect for you?

If you're an iPhone/iPod user then you're used to your average Apple headphones but move them aside and grab yourself the Beats Solo HD - I recently was given these Matte Black wonders for Christmas and they've been nothing but wonderful.

Beats are one of the biggest or the biggest headphone manufacturer in the world with tons of people joining the bandwagon to grab a pair and jam out to their favourite music.

I recommend the Solo HD because they are lightweight headphones that come in a variety of colours. You can chose from a range or colours in which I chose black (predictable) but they deliver the most amazing sound to the point you could be lip synching to Kanye West with someone walking in without you realising  - been there, done that.

But if forking out over £100 is too much for a pair of headphones then I recommend the Urban Ears from Urban Outfitters. These were headphones that I was initially going to ask for before I was given the Beats.

The Urban Ears are a cheaper equivalent of the Beats that come in a range of matte colours that are affordable prices. Urban Outfitters sell a wide range of the Urban Ears with the minimum price of £50 - this is remarkably lower than the Beats but never expect good sounding headphones to be cheap.

Music
Music, in my mind is like oxygen, everyone needs it. With a pair of headphones you obviously need music, now I'm not recommending my genre of music in this section, I am recommend forms of music players you could you use to get the best experience.

If you didn't already know Spotify is one of my favourite things of all time - no seriously. Back in December of last year I joined the bandwagon by signing up for the premium subscription of Spotify which allows me to have a wide catalogue of music right in my palms.

Spotify is a music app that offers you a wide range of music from all genres and artists for you to listen to on the go. The app is great to make playlists for all different occasions so you have the best music for where ever you're heading to.

I have signed up with Spotify Premium which is slightly different than the standard version. I pay £4.99 a month to access all my favourite music, create endless playlists and listen to my music offline when I'm not connected to WiFi.

Premium is delightful and I haven't looked back in regret since I've bought it and £4.99 a month has been no chunk out of my bank balance what so ever.

If you're not looking to pay the premium subscription you can have the standard Spotify which is free but the only faults to this is that you have adverts between songs and you can't listen to the playlists you've created when you're not connected to WiFi - so I'd highly recommend paying for Spotify monthly if you want access to everything.

However Spotify isn't the only music app, there are a range including Pandora and Blinkbox but I can offer a review of these as I haven't used them myself.

If apps aren't your thing then stick to the music library on your iPhone and iPod so download your favourite music for you to listen to on the go therefore it's free unless you're paying for new music of course.

Instant Cameras
You all know that I have an undying love for Instant Cameras and the outcome they produce. I have loved instant cameras for so many years and have always found myself using disposable cameras and Polaroids when ever I get the chance.

Whether it being travelling somewhere really exciting or a day out you've been waiting all week for I find that taking photos to capture the moment/memory is really important and there's nothing better than having a vintage style photo achieving that.

This is why I recommend the Fujifilm Mini 8, I have had this spectacular camera since my eighteenth birthday and it has come with me everywhere, capturing my trip to Paris and Disneyland and days out with friends and it's so ideal to take a photo of something and it bring back a flood of memories.

What I love about Instant photography the most is that it gives that vintage and retro vibe to the photo and creates an impression the photo has been around for a long time, but maybe that's just me.

Fujifilm cameras are so easy to get your hands on, I got mine from Argos last summer for £80 which included the camera itself and four packs of film (included 10 photographs per pack). This is a great deal for a bundle of this kind and it's worth grabbing it whilst you can.

If Fujifilm cameras aren't your thing then perhaps find your Dad's old disposable camera that's been living in your Loft collecting dust. As much as I love the Instax I still love to use the disposable camera just as much.

Disposable cameras are those nifty film photographic devices that take vintage esque photos with a click of a button. However you can't see the photographs until you've gone to get them printed but that week wait to finally see them is always something I've found so exciting.

Disposable cameras are just as easy getting than the Instax - even easier. I tend to buy mine from my local Asda as they always have some in stock, the cameras include 27 shots and tend to cost around £7.

DSLR:
Every blogger needs to take photographs wherever they go, this means they can have visuals incorporated into their blog for their readers to gain an understanding of where the blogger has been.

Although they're expensive, using a DSLR camera such as a Canon or Nikon are key to get the best looking photos for your blog but this really does pay off in the long run. If you didn't know the camera I use is the Nikon D5100 with the 50mm fixed lens which achieves the blurrier background.

I take out my camera every time I go on a exciting day out or when I'm travelling as I love to take photos of what I'm doing/seeing/eating and I find that it makes my blog that visually more enticing but aside from my blog their perfect to use to capture your memories between friends and family.

Notebook:
As a blogger I love to use my notebook daily to note down ideas of blog posts, outfit ideas and so forth but they come in extremely handy when I go abroad or a day out with friends.

When I look to write a post on something I'm doing I like to bring along my Urban Outfitters notebook so I can write down everything that has happened in my day, therefore it makes it easier for me to remember what I've done when it comes to writing my blog post.

Choose a notebook they reflects your personality, sounds odd I know, but you don't want a Sainsburys basic notebook surely? I got mine from Urban Outfitters which is a simplistic black and white notebook with the phrase "Shit Hot Ideas" written across the front in a quirky font. I like this as it was something quite quirky and more individualistic then any other notebook and this just cost £8 at Urban Outfitters.

These are all the blogger essentials I can think of right now: if I do think of anymore I will do an updated post in the future.

I hope you enjoyed this post and perhaps gave you an insight of how my day out/travelling works and what I like to use when I'm away.

Leave me a comment of what post you'd like to see next, thank you.

  2. This is a really cool combination of essentials! Especially like the instant camera which I never would have thought of... I have considered investing in a pair of Beats but struggled to see past the hype! Are they really that good? I love my music, but mostly in the gym so not sure they'd be very practical.

    1. Thank you so much! Instant Cameras are just great and perfect for a photograph hoarder like myself. The Beats I have are great but it's down to personal prefrence, I've gone through endless amount of Apple Headphones so these were the perfect change and the quality is just fab and perhaps not in the gym? They do stay on my head but I can imagine they could get in the way, perhaps stick to headphones for that matter.

Really dig your blog, keep it up. Do we follow each other on Bloglovin' by any chance, I've forgotten?
