The Flannel Shirt | Urban Renewal

Thursday 5 March 2015

Hey Guys, how's everyone doing?

In today's post I am bringing you my latest outfit of the day look and talking all about it, so feast your eyes on my latest look and let me know what you think in the comment section below.

Everyone's style changes day to day, I go through stages where I wear nothing but black and other days I like to create some of my favourite vintage looks and yesterday was no exception.

Me and my good friend Jessie took a day trip to Bristol yesterday where we spent the day shopping in Cabot Circus, eating our body weight in Frankie and Benny's deliciousness and taking style photos for my blog which I am bringing you today.

The Flannel shirt is one of my favourite pieces and in my eyes never really gone out of style and they are a key piece to have in your ever growing wardrobe.

Checkered shirts are an essential that everyone has, they come in a range of colours/tones and you can mix and match them with plenty of looks, but not everyone's checkered shirts are of flannel material which is currently on the rise.

Flannel shirts are one of my one true loves and they're something I find perfect for mixing and matching with different outfits. What sets them apart from other checkered shirts is there thicker, comfier and vintage feel to them which I absolutely adore. These are so easy to find and you can pick up many different styles and colours of flannel shirts at your local vintage stores or high street stores such as Urban Outfitters.

I mixed my Urban Renewal line flannel shirt from Urban Outfitters with a simple look. I incorporated basic pieces so I could draw more attention to the colour and look of my shirt. Underneath the shirt I wore a basic long sleeve white tee shirt in which I rolled up the sleeves and some black skinny jeans from Primark.

Like I mentioned I tend to wear this look with basic pieces as this makes the shirt the vocal point of the outfit. The shirt was from Urban Outfitters Urban Renewal line in which they resell old clothes from a variety of brands and sell them for much cheaper. I bought this shirt late last year for just £10 which is incredible as this is one of my favourite pieces in my wardrobe.

I recommend having a flannel shirt a much larger size than your own, if you're like me and like the on trend baggy/oversized look then this is the perfect way of achieving so. I regularly wear XS/S sizes and this was an XL which I absolutely love as it makes the shirt feel a lot more comfortable and has a relaxed vibe/look to the outfit.

This has been one of my favourite looks of most recent and I always tend to get compliments from friends when I wear this outfit which is great.

Do you own a flannel shirt & if so, why do you love it?

Let me know what you thought of this look in the comment section below as I love to read your replies. I'm also doing an #askcharlie so ask me questions in the comment section below with the hashtag #askcharlie and I'll be answering them in a post next week so keep your eyes out for that.

Thank you for helping me reach 300 followers & happy Thursday.
